FAQ's

Empowering Black Representation:

In a world where diversity and inclusion are crucial, Black professionals are vastly underrepresented in senior leadership positions in the UK. This lack of representation creates a void in role models, development opportunities, and diversity at lower management levels. A 2021 survey by the Colour of Power highlights this disparity, with only 71 out of the 1,163 most powerful people in the UK being from ethnic minorities, with 35, 18, and 18 being Asian, Black, and other ethnic minority groups, respectively.

The Black UK experience is unique and requires support from coaches, mentors, and other professionals who can relate to their reality and have faced similar challenges. The gap between different ethnic groups is still prevalent due to differing cultural, educational, and income-based circumstances.

At UCBCA, we recognise the importance of having representation and support for Black UK professionals. By providing access to credentialed Black coaches, we aim to empower Black professionals to overcome the challenges and barriers they face in the workplace and to bridge the gap in representation. Join us in our mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the UK and to empower Black representation in leadership roles.

Coaching is a recognised tool for bridging this gap, fostering self-awareness and building confidence. However, the coaching industry is unregulated, and the multitude of coaching qualifications can make it difficult for potential clients to identify coaches who have undergone proper training and adhere to ethical standards.

Finding credentialed Black coaches actively working in the UK market is even more challenging.

Ensuring Quality and Credibility: In the professional coaching world, it can be difficult for clients to navigate the many coaching qualifications and determine the coaches who have undergone proper training and adhere to ethical standards. To address this issue, the UCBCA only accepts individuals who have earned accreditation from at least one of the three reputable organisations: the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), and the Association for Coaching (AC).

These organisations have established rigorous standards for coach training, professional development, and ethical conduct, ensuring that UCBCA members are highly qualified and credible coaches. By working with UCBCA members, clients can have confidence that they are partnering with a coach who has met the highest standards of excellence and professionalism.

It is important to note that UCBCA recognises the value of other rigorous and established coaching qualifications. Our focus on ICF, EMCC, and AC at this time does not imply a lesser recognition or acceptance of different qualifications. Instead, it reflects the limitations of our resources and manpower. We hope to expand our scope in the future and include individuals with other accreditations. UCBCA is committed to promoting quality and credibility in the coaching industry, and our strict standards for credentials ensure that our members provide the best coaching services to clients.
